So I've been struggling along with my Anachronism entry, after writing the first part, and I just came up with a direction it can go that I probably won't end up hating. And it's historically accurate, so there.

My year/place/event is 1871, London, at the height of Queen Victoria's reign, as she successfully expands her empire, especially in the New World (Canada expanded quite a bit. America was a little pissed off.) and India. I wasn't given a specific date beyond that, though, and I had randomly picked summer, which really wasn't working.

Fun fact: Princess of Wales Alexandra of Denmark prematurely gave birth to Prince Alexander John on April 6, 1871, with the help of an (as far as I can tell) unnamed midwife. He died the next day. Given that I can't find any record of her having problems with conception or pregnancy otherwise (He was the only child she lost), I'm getting the feeling that something happened. Something like Hitler trying to assassinate her Mother-in-Law, perhaps?

So, new plan. Emma falls out of time on April 3rd or 4th, 17 1/4 years before she left, delivers her little brother (angst plus the severe oddity of talking to her 7-year-old self, as well as her finally figuring out what Hitler was talking about, as well as a convenient vehicle to get her near enough to Westminster for the next part of the plot), sees Hitler in the street as he marches with his army on the palace, ends up getting trapped in Marlborough by a cadre of his soldiers, including the disguised Charlie Chaplin, interrupts Hitler's attempts to kill the royal family, delivers the infant prince, ends up doing... something... that gets her into the next portal/time stamp/whatever. Add in a healthy serving of a terrible reenactment of a slum accent and some general hilarity about temporal physics and the silver screen, and that's a better plan than anything else I've come up with so far.

What do people think?
